June 7, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., at the Turkish bath located in the courtyard of the Gole\u0219ti mansion, will take place the opening of the exhibition &#8220;The ritual of bathing in the hammam&#8221;.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The exhibition is organized by proffessor <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Tudor Dinu, PhD., and the Gole\u0219ti Museum. <span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d\">The exhibition <\/span>will introduce you to the fascinating universe of the Greco-Ottoman Balkans, where bathing was both a personal activity and a social ritual, for the integration of the individual into the social space. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The opening will be followed by the presentation of the book &#8220;Baths, hammams, delights.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">An illustrated history of the baths in Wallachia and Moldova&#8221; and the exhibition catalogue. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Tudor Dinu documents, with the same erudition with which he has accustomed his readers, a subject that has been little studied until now: the evolution of bathrooms in Wallachia and Moldova from the 16th century to the middle of the 19th century, when the transition<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">from oriental to western inspired lifestyle. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\" dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">TUDOR DINU (b. 1978) is a qualified doctoral professor at the University of Bucharest, where he teaches Greek language, literature and civilization, and honorary doctor of the Democritus University of Thrace (Greece).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Starting from the testimonies of foreign travelers from past eras and from the few vestiges of old hammams and feredeia preserved in our area, the author ended up exploring similar structures in the Balkan region, bringing to light original pieces used in the bathing ritual, either from private collections<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz JxVs2d\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">, or from the heritage of museums.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"OvtS8d\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"ow1372\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"UdTY9 WdefRb\" aria-hidden=\"true\"
