Dear literature lovers,<\/p>\n
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM, the annual event titled International Poetry Day at the Gole\u0219ti Manor will take place at the Gole\u0219ti Museum. It will be a cultural activity bringing together prominent poets from across the Romanian cultural space. The event has reached its 8th edition, and this year\u2019s special guest is poet Mihail G\u0103l\u0103\u0163anu.<\/p>\n
Artists and cultural figures who will attend the event include: Adrian Cioroianu, Catia Maxim, Liviu M\u0103\u021b\u0103uanu, George Badea, Liliana Rus, Angi Melania Cristea, Alexandra Niculae, Marius Burhan, Carmen Secere, Drago\u0219 Popescu, Romulus Br\u00e2ncoveanu, Cornel Carp, Dan Dr\u0103goi, Virgil Diaconu, Magda Grigore, Cristian Mele\u015fteu.<\/p>\n
During the event, the following activities will take place: presentation of the special guest, public readings, debates based on the readings, and musical intermezzos performed by Iustina Oprea.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s special guest was born on September 11, 1963, in the city of Gala\u021bi. He completed his primary education there, attended Mihail Kog\u0103lniceanu Theoretical High School, and in 1988 graduated from the Faculty of Physics\u2013Mechanics, specializing in the Foundations of Experimental Research. He later worked in research at the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest.<\/p>\n
He was a French Government scholarship holder (1994) and a European Community scholarship holder (1995), specializing in International Relations. He worked for the bilingual European Union magazine EUROPE\/EUROP. He served as editor-in-chief at magazines such as Flac\u0103ra, Playboy, and Flagrant. He was deputy to Cornel Nistorescu at Expres Magazin and later at Evenimentul Zilei, which he left in March 2004. He was director of Flac\u0103ra magazine until November 2009. He served as a member of the Board of Directors and the Editorial Board of the press trust S.C. Publica\u021biile Flac\u0103ra S.A.<\/p>\n
e is a member of the Romanian Press Club, the Romanian Wine Club, PEN Club, and the leadership council of the Writers\u2019 Union of Romania (U.S.R.), within the Bucharest Writers\u2019 Association (A.S.B.). Until 2012 he worked as coordinating editor at Finmedia\/Pia\u021ba Financiar\u0103.<\/p>\n
He made his debut in 1987 with the poetry volume \u201c\u0218tiri despre mine\u201d (News About Myself), published by Litera Publishing House, Bucharest, under the supervision of the distinguished book editor Radu Albala. This was followed by:<\/p>\n
He debuted in prose in 1999 with the novel \u201cMe\u0219terii de clopote\u201d (The Bell Makers). In 2019, the publishing house eLiteratura released his novel \u201cUn dublu asasinat politic\u201d (A Double Political Assassination), a report-novel about a museum curator from Pele\u0219, the head of the Democratic Convention in 1990, who was assassinated the same year in C\u00e2mpina after inventorying the royal paintings at Pele\u0219 Castle, a possession of King Michael. The murderer has never been identified.<\/p>\n
In 2020, the novel \u201cInima Reginei Maria\u201d (The Heart of Queen Maria) appeared at Coresi\/eLiteratura Publishing House.<\/p>\n
In 2001, he published the short-story collection \u201cStrada Plantelor\u201d (Plantelor Street) with ALL Publishing House, in the collection \u201cContemporary Romanian Prose.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other prose works include: \u201cMireasa f\u0103r\u0103 corp\u201d (The Bride Without a Body), novel, 2006; \u201cStrada Plantelor \u0219i alte povestiri\u201d (Plantelor Street and Other Stories), 2007; and \u201cStradivarius\u201d, 2008. Essays include \u201cLiteratur\u0103 de cartier\u201d (Neighborhood Literature), vol. 1 and \u201cOrbirea lui Tiresias \/ Un posibil manifest al genera\u021biei \u201990\u201d (The Blindness of Tiresias \/ A Possible Manifesto of the \u201990 Generation).<\/p>\n
