On August 12, 2026, starting at 9:00 PM, we invite you to join us for “Perseid Night” and spend a summer evening together under the open sky at Golești Museum.
The Perseids are one of the best-known and most spectacular astronomical phenomena of the year. Every summer, Earth passes through a cloud of particles left behind by Comet Swift–Tuttle. When these particles enter Earth’s atmosphere, they burn up and create bright streaks across the sky, popularly known as “shooting stars.”
The event is organized in partnership with “Matei Basarab” Secondary School in Pitești and its teaching staff, coordinated by Principal Elena Odă: Deputy Principal Mădălina Burcea, and teachers Ana Boșoagă, Ileana Silveanu, and Luminița Ilie.
On this occasion, students from “Matei Basarab” Secondary School will present an artistic program inspired by the grandeur of the universe. Participants will also have the opportunity to learn more about the sky, the stars, and the fascinating meteor shower from members of the two astronomy projects carried out in Argeș County: Privește Cerul, Românește! (“Look at the Sky, Romanian Style!” – Golești Museum) and ABCerul (Constantin Căpitănescu School Astronomical Observatory).
