On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, the Contemporary Art Hall of the Golești Museum will host the opening of the exhibition entitled “Re-Vitalizations” by visual artist Dragoș Botezat.

Dragoș Botezat was born on July 18, 1973, in Bucharest, where he currently lives and works as a painter.

His first steps toward art began in childhood when, after viewing a drawing, he gradually developed both the need to create and a drive toward introspection and dreaming. Since adolescence, he has pursued a self-taught path, constantly exploring both the inner world and the external reality.

In 1993, he was admitted to the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Arts in Bucharest, where he studied painting under the guidance of painters and professors Gheorghe Anghel, Florin Mitroi, and Florin Ciubotaru, the latter becoming his mentor and close supporter.

During his university years, Botezat transitioned from drawing to oil painting, embracing a richer color palette and a more complex formal approach. During this period, he was awarded several prizes, including the „Lucian Grigorescu Prize” for drawing and a study trip to Venice alongside fellow students. Most importantly, he spent two formative years working in the memorial house of architect Octav Doicescu, an experience that deeply shaped his artistic trajectory, giving new meaning and weight to the creative act.

Based on these formative experiences, his painting evolved, acquiring a new outlook and creative independence. Parallel to his formal academic training, he developed personal projects that later became foundational to his artistic career.

Since 1995, Dragoș Botezat has participated in numerous group exhibitions (painting, drawing, and even video art). Beginning in 1999, he started organizing solo exhibitions, presenting his works in various venues, bringing freshness through vibrant color and a mystical dimension aligned with his personal search for “art in itself.”

These tendencies have endured over time; even during long periods of inactivity, they resurface with renewed approaches and an unwavering foundation rooted in form, color, depth, and creative impulse.

The works of Dragoș Botezat will be on display at Golești Museum until July 1, 2025.
