The Golești Viticulture and Fruit Growing Museum is organizing the 16th edition of the International Drawing and Painting Competition for children and young people in 2026. This year’s theme is “The folk costume in my country”, inviting participants to explore and illustrate traditional clothing from their own cultural background. The competition is open to young artists aged up to 19, with the age limit calculated by the end of 2026.
Each participant may submit only one artwork, in the required size of 30/42 cm. Works in other formats will not be accepted, and submissions must not be mounted or framed. Schools and organizations may send a maximum of 20 artworks. Each entry must include identification details on the back, in English and block letters, including the participant’s name, date of birth, full postal and e-mail address, artwork title, explanatory text about the subject, and mentor’s name.
The artworks must be sent by post to Golești Museum, Radu Golescu Street no. 34, Ștefănești, Argeș County, 117717, Romania, marked for the International Painting Competition for Children – Golești. The final deadline for receiving entries is September 30, 2026, based on the postmark date.
The results will be announced by November 2026, and the winners will be notified personally by mail or e-mail. The artworks will be evaluated by a jury of experts, including artists, art critics and curators. Prizes will include Grand Prizes for Romanian and foreign participants, as well as first, second and third prizes for the age categories up to 7 years old, 8–11, 12–15 and 16–19, along with honorable mentions.
