The Golești Museum of Viticulture and Fruit Growing, in partnership with the Ethnography Section of the Oltenia Museum in Craiova, is organizing the exhibition “Maria Tănase – Romanian Soul”, a project that brings together authentic objects that once belonged to the great artist.
The exhibition offers visitors an insight into the personal and artistic universe of Maria Tănase through approximately 150 items of memorial and documentary value, highlighting the history, art, and spirit of a voice that profoundly shaped Romanian culture.
The Maria Tănase Collection includes around 1,300 objects that entered the heritage of the Oltenia Museum in Craiova through a donation in 1976. Among these are original civil status documents—birth, marriage, and death certificates—identification documents and attestations, the artist’s employment record book and will, as well as awards, diplomas, and medals. The collection also includes documents attesting to her artistic performances in Romania and abroad, photographs and snapshots from her personal and artistic life, and various sketches.
Within the exhibition, visitors can also admire portraits and paintings created by artists such as Sabin Nemeș, Liviu Gheorghe, Victor Pârlac, Gabriel Bratu, and Eustațiu Gregorian. The display also features pieces of furniture, interior textiles, decorative objects, clothing items, and many other testimonies of a valuable cultural legacy preserved and passed on to future generations.
Through this exhibition project, the museum aims to bring Maria Tănase’s cultural legacy closer to the public and to highlight the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
The exhibition “Maria Tănase – Romanian Soul” will be open to the public from March to September 2026, at the Golești Museum of Viticulture and Fruit Growing.
