During August 10–14, 2026, for the third consecutive year, the Golești Museum of Viticulture and Fruit Growing – Argeș organized the “Oina – a traditional Romanian game” initiation camp, an activity that is part of the “Summer vacation… in the countryside!” educational program.
The project aimed to promote oina – the traditional Romanian sport, to bring it out of the shadows, to make children aware of the fact that it represents a national symbol, and at the same time to increase respect for the intangible cultural heritage.

Over 50 children from Bucharest were present during the first two days of the camp, accompanied by the president of the Parents’ Association of the “Liviu Rebreanu” Junior High School, Mihai Cristian Branischi. Also, among the participants were children from Ștefănești, Argeș, from the Republic of Moldova and from Italy.
Gheorghe Stoica, coach at the Olimpii Țițești Sports Club in Argeș, together with Victor Popa, representative of the Parents’ Association of the “Liviu Rebreanu” Junior High School, initiated the participants into the secrets of this sport.
Through such events, oina is brought from the museum to the community, where the story of our national sport can be passed on to new generations.
The activities dedicated to oina at the Golești Museum will continue… in October. Soon, the invitation will be launched for the reunion of the oina centers in Argeș within the framework of a new event that will be hosted by the Golești Museum and generically titled “Cupa Văilor”.
