The group exhibition “Complementary Spaces” opens at the Contemporary Art Hall of Golești Museum.
Golești Museum invites the public on Saturday, July 11, 2026, to the opening of the group exhibition “Complementary Spaces”, an event dedicated to contemporary Romanian art. The opening will take place in the Contemporary Art Hall, starting at 1:00 p.m.
The exhibition brings together works by 12 contemporary Romanian visual artists and offers an exploration of diverse artistic worlds connected by the idea of complementarity. Through painting, sculpture, and photography, the invited artists investigate the relationships between forms, perspectives, and experiences that coexist and complete one another, opening a dialogue on the ways in which physical, mental, and symbolic spaces intersect and generate new meanings.
The public will be able to discover works by:
Alexandru Papuc – sculpture
George Bilan – sculpture
Brîndușa Bontea – painting
Radu Florea (Flower) – painting
Sanda Buțiu – painting
Gențiana Bota – painting
Arthur Bota – painting
Ștefan Crișan – painting
Irina Florescu – painting
Alexandru Gavrilescu – painting
Cristian Macovei – photography
Livia Mărculescu – photography
The exhibition brings together established artists and representative voices of the contemporary visual arts scene, many of whom are members of the Union of Visual Artists of Romania and have an extensive exhibition record both in Romania and abroad.
In the field of sculpture, Alexandru Papuc and George Bilan present works that highlight the expressiveness of volume and the dialogue between material and idea. Painting is represented by artists with distinct visual identities, including Brîndușa Bontea, Radu Florea (Flower), Sanda Buțiu, Gențiana Bota, Arthur Bota, Ștefan Crișan, Irina Florescu, and Alexandru Gavrilescu, whose works explore the relationship between reality and imagination, light and color, memory and emotion. The photographic component of the exhibition is represented by Cristian Macovei and Livia Mărculescu, who complete the exhibition journey through contemporary visual perspectives and original approaches to the image.
“Complementary Spaces” is an invitation to reflect on the way different forms of artistic expression can build a shared discourse, where diversity becomes a source of balance and dialogue. Each work contributes to shaping a space of encounter between sensibilities, techniques, and artistic visions, offering visitors a complex visual experience open to interpretation.
The exhibition will be open to visitors in the Contemporary Art Hall of Golești Museum from July 11 to September 6, 2026.
We look forward to welcoming you to an exhibition that demonstrates how contemporary art can become a space of dialogue, complementarity, and encounter between diverse artistic perspectives.
