The opening of the exhibition “The Heritage That Unites Us: Romanian Folk Costume” will take place on Wednesday, October 14, at 1:00 PM.
The exhibition is organized by the Bran National Museum in collaboration with the Golești Viticulture and Fruit Growing Museum, the institution that holds the featured collections.
This project aims to showcase regional ethnographic heritage, offering the public access to a collection of objects that document daily life, traditional aesthetics, and the evolution of craftsmanship in the Bran area between the 19th and 20th centuries.
We invite you on a journey into the world of the Romanian village, bringing together folk costumes and traditional objects made of wood, metal, and ceramics—all carefully preserved in the Bran National Museum’s collections. Each exhibit tells a story: of the artisan’s hands that crafted it, the people who used it, and the communities where these traditions came to life.
From the richly ornamented fabrics of folk costumes to meticulously crafted objects, these artifacts reveal a world where beauty and utility were harmoniously intertwined. Their forms, materials, and decorative motifs echo Romanian beliefs, customs, and identity, offering visitors the chance to discover symbols and practices passed down through generations.
Viewed together, these objects create a vivid picture of folk creativity and the ways in which people of the past expressed their connection to the land, their community, and nature.
