Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. we invite you to the opening of the personal exhibition “A Time in Time” by the visual artist Ștefania Popa. Along with the artist, the opening will be attended by lecturer Dr. Teodora Necula from the Faculty of Theology, Letters, History and Arts (National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest – Pitești University Center), prof. Cristina Ciucu from the “Dinu Lipatti” Pitești High School of Arts and poet Denisa Popescu.
Born on August 2, 1974, in Ștefănești, Argeș County, Ștefania Popa is a Romanian visual artist whose creative journey is shaped by a strong interdisciplinary background that blends exact sciences with visual arts. This unique combination brings depth and sensitivity to her artistic expression.
Her path in the visual arts began with focused studies in easel painting and religious art. Between 2018 and 2023, she studied easel painting under the guidance of painter Dragoș Alexandru in Bucharest. In 2018, she also attended private courses with professor Cristina Ciucu (Art High School of Pitești) and artist Ada Gogonea (Art Society Creative Workshop). In 2024, she deepened her knowledge of iconography at Atelier Dumitrescu in Pitești, under the mentorship of professor Liviu Dumitrescu. Currently, she is enrolled in a master’s program in Icon, Mural and Easel Painting Restoration at the Faculty of Theology, Letters, History and Arts in Pitești.
Alongside her artistic development, Ștefania Popa has built a distinguished career in education. Between 1998 and 2006, she worked as a computer science teacher and successfully guided students in international digital art competitions. Her students won major awards, including distinctions presented at prestigious venues such as Tate Modern (London), Cotroceni Palace, and the Romanian Parliament.
Ștefania Popa has participated in numerous group exhibitions, gaining recognition for her delicate, symbolic, and floral-infused painting style:
– April 2024: exhibited Roses in the charity exhibition “Angels and Flowers”, Art Coffee Cowork Gallery, Pitești;
– February 2024: presented Port and Constanța Harbor in the “The Creator” exhibition at the National Technical Museum “Dimitrie Leonida”, Bucharest;
– October 2023: participated with Blouse Flowers in the “Fragments” exhibition at ARCUB – Hanul Gabroveni, Bucharest;
– July 2023: featured in the “Self-Portrait” exhibition at the National Museum of Romanian Literature, Bucharest;
– December 2021: included Pansies and Spring Flowers in the “10 Years – Elite Art Gallery” anniversary exhibition, Cotroceni;
– Between 2019 and 2020: took part in a series of exhibitions organized by Elite Prof Art Gallery, including “Contemporary Art Exhibit” at Athenee Palace Hilton, “Contemporary Art” at Crowne Plaza Hotel, and “Autumn Harmonies” in Cotroceni.
Through her work, Ștefania Popa conveys a refined artistic vision in which compositional balance and a delicate, expressive color palette come together harmoniously. Her artistic career continues to evolve, nurtured by rigorous training and active engagement with the contemporary Romanian art scene.
