On April 25, 2023, in the Contemporary Art Hall of the Golesti Museum will open an exhibition of textile collages and paintings entitled “Fragments and details of a whole”, belonging to designer Stela Maria Lucici. The artist was born on February 6, 1956, in Arad. In 1982, she graduated from the Nicolae Grigorescu Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, specializing in decorative arts, where she had exceptional professors such as Andrei Plesu, Anca Oroveanu, and Lucia Ioan. She debuted in 1984 with an exhibition of utilitarian ceramics at the Metopa-UAP Gallery in Pitesti. She participated in numerous symposia and creative camps and had over 50 solo and group exhibitions. In 1997, she won the first prize for fashion in Timisoara.
Art critic Ana Amelia Dinca said of the artist: “Stela Maria Lucici is an artist nuanced in plastic expression, very expressive and sure of the means of representation. The plant elements used as the starting motif for many configurations are windows to the play with forms, tones, and geometric suggestions that enhance a visual discourse held under control by sustained studio experience. The decorative character of the artist’s compositions is doubled by pictorial effects, and her painting reveals the mastery of drawing and compositional criteria subsumed in approaches of maximum stylistic hold.”
In the Golesti exhibition, the artist presents works composed of elements inspired by nature, geometric elements, and elements delivered by a fantastic imaginary. This exhibition will be open for visitation until June 12, 2023.
