The Program
Saturday, September 27, 2025
11:00 – Opening Ceremony (15 min.)
The event begins with a historical-military ceremony featuring a full detachment dressed in 1848-era uniforms, representing mainly the Romanian army, alongside a Napoleonic uniform. The official salute will be presented to the museum director and other attending dignitaries. After the ceremony, the detachment will move to the festival stands, where the following program unfolds:
- Demonstrations of uniforms, equipment, and weaponry;
- Recruitment center for volunteers (especially children), guided by two non-commissioned officers. Participants will be trained in drill and weapons handling (using props). After about 30 minutes, they will be reviewed by an officer, promoted to combat soldiers, and issued a “military booklet” certifying their status. (Approx. 15 min.; repeated periodically or as visitor interest requires);
- War correspondents’ and artists’ bureau – children can draw or color images of soldiers from 1821–1848. Materials are provided free of charge by the “6 Dorobanți” Association. Finished drawings will be stamped with the regiment seal and signed by the commander for authentication. (Approx. 15 min.; repeated periodically);
- Field post office – visitors will receive free vintage postcards (featuring notable figures, patriotic imagery, or early 20th-century views of Pitești) and stamps. They will write with pen and ink, have their cards marked with a “military censorship” stamp, and send them via Romanian Post. (Approx. 15 min.; repeated periodically);
- Field kitchen – members of the association will prepare a traditional soldiers’ stew, following recipes from the era, for about 30–35 people, served according to period military regulations.
