On June 19, 2025, our museum hosted a press conference marking the launch of the project “Protection and Restoration of Built Heritage within the Golești Museum of Viticulture and Pomology”. The initiative is financed through non-reimbursable funds provided by the National Heritage Institute via the Heritage Stamp program and co-financed by the Argeș County Council.

As part of this project, the roofs of 53 traditional monuments and auxiliary buildings from the museum’s heritage will be restored. These include the building housing the History Section within the Feudal Ensemble, the Free Public School, traditional houses from Maramureș and Banat, the Church in the Open-Air Section, as well as the rehabilitation of 450 linear meters of surrounding fences.

With a total value of approximately 4.5 million lei, the project plays a vital role in both the preservation of the museum’s valuable architectural heritage and the development of the tourism infrastructure in Argeș County.

During the press conference, Mr. Adrian Dumitru Bughiu, Vice President of the Argeș County Council, emphasized that cultural investments—regardless of their funding source, whether through the Heritage Stamp, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the Anghel Saligny Program, or others—are always welcome and complement the major infrastructure projects currently underway in Argeș County. “Beyond the recognition it receives from the public and specialists alike, the Golești Museum also enjoys the full support of the County Council leadership. This is due not only to its historical significance but also to its cultural potential—and, to be frank, to its capacity for generating own-source revenue. After all, every cultural activity also has an economic dimension. We are here to motivate ourselves and to mobilize everyone so that the success of this project rests entirely in our hands,” stated Vice President Bughiu.

In turn, Mr. Iustin Dejanu, Manager of the Golești Museum, added: “This is a very important project for us—Protection and Restoration of Built Heritage within the Golești Museum of Viticulture and Pomology. It involves restoring 53 structures in the open-air section of the museum, primarily traditional buildings. We are mainly focusing on roofs, but also on fencing. Among the buildings whose roofs will be restored are the House from Banat, the Church from Drăguțești, the Crossroads Inn—a unique piece in the Romanian museum landscape—the History Section (last restored in 2011 following a fire), and the Free Public School.”

Mr. Dejanu also pointed out the significance of the project, the potential challenges—such as sourcing appropriate straw materials for the roofs of houses from Alba County—but especially the prompt and decisive support from the Argeș County Council, which approved the project quickly and provided 10% co-financing.
